100種を超えるクモが、アリの外見をまねている。たいてい、ほかの種に食べられないこと、効率的に獲物に忍び寄ることが目的だ。[アリグモはハエトリグモ科。常に第1肢を持ち上げており、触角のように見える]

特に物まねがうまい種もいる。例えば、下のdark-footed ant spider(学名Myrmarachne melanotarsa)は、外見がアリにそっくりなだけでなく、行動までアリに似ている。ほとんどのクモは孤独を好むが、この種は、糸で作った大きく複雑な巣に10〜50匹で住み、外出時は群れで移動するのだ。捕食されにくい利点があると考えられている。
